Chips and Slovenia’s Technological Sovereignty

Today, the situation is different, chips are virtually everywhere, says Denis Đonlagić, Professor at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science, University of Maribor:

“Semiconductors, or chips, are a fundamental technology underlying all modern systems. They can be found in practically every product, from washing machines to spacecraft. Virtually none of these products can be manufactured without extensive use of chips or semiconductors. Recent developments, such as the rise of artificial intelligence, also rely heavily and directly on advances in chip technology. Artificial intelligence in particular has dramatically accelerated the development, investment, and production of chips.”
